Ejesiak

I was born and raised in Iqaluit but I’ve also lived in Nanisivik, Yellowknife, Ottawa, Wolfville, Boston and Spain. I have worked in both the public and private sectors representing Nunavut at the regional, national and international levels. In all my endeavours, from documentary film production and the expansion of new communications technologies, to guiding kayakers in Nunavut’s chilly waters, I have dedicated myself to making the lives of Nunavummiut better grounded in my reverence for my cultural and environmental heritage. I am the Vice-President of the Inuit Circumpolar Council – Canada and am currently working in Iqaluit as Creative Director and CEO of Uqsiq Communications, a multi-media communications firm. In 2005, I was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship to attend the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University where I completed my Masters of Public Administration as Nunavut’s first student at Harvard. I am particularly interested in circumpolar mobility rights for Inuit within a global context. Prior to going to Harvard, I was Chief of Staff and Principal Secretary to the Premier of Nunavut. I had the honour of winning the Young Business Entrepreneur award from the Business Development Bank of Canada. I make sure I have enough time to volunteer my energies to the position of vice-chair of the Board of Human Rights Internet and managing partner of Gallery by the Red Boat. I live with my partner Madeleine, my two sons Noah and Jayko, and my daughter Naja in a new house overlooking Frobisher Bay in Iqaluit.
