Profile of a Philanthropist: Ben Donates Bar Mitzvah Funds to Environment

Who do you picture when you hear the word, philanthropist? Perhaps an elegantly dressed, silver-haired woman, or a 30-something computer genius with money to burn? You may not have pictured 13-year-old, Hamiltonian Ben Rudolph, a veteran philanthropist and volunteer in his own right.
Rudolph has collected donations of funds and food for local food banks, raised money for the Haiti relief effort, stuffed envelopes and canvassed for non-profit organizations, and most recently, donated his bar mitzvah money to the Hamilton Fruit Tree Project. “When you do a bar mitzvah, you also do a mitzvah or good deed project, but I took my project a bit further,” explains Rudolph. “I gave my family and friends the choice to donate rather than give a gift, because even though I can always want cool new stuff…. read the full article here
