Thank you for making a big difference.
“It is rare to find an environment where youth can be 100% themselves while equally embracing the differences of those who surround them, where an air of kindness prevails, and where the most isolated of youth feel comfortable enough to come out of their cocoons.”

Project Profile
You started something big with Small Change!
Your generous support went to bursaries to allow many deserving youth to participate in a social justice youth camp which answersed the call for social justice understanding and advocacy.
Open to the Spirit, rooted in the gospel tradition, Tatamagouche Centre is an education and retreat centre which invites and challenges people from diverse backgrounds to personal wholeness, right relationships, respect for creation, and justice in the world. We have a proud history of successful fund raising that has made it possible for us to offer subsidies to all participants - over 40% of whom receive full bursaries. This has become a real challenge, however, given our current economic situation. With your support we will be able to offer this program to more youth through our bursary fund.

The Social Justice Youth Camp is unlike any other youth program in Atlantic Canada. We bring together youth from African Nova-Scotian, Newcomer, Aboriginal, urban and rural communities for a unique experience in anti-racist education, climate change action, gender identity, arts and advocacy, and the development of skills for social justice transformation.
Over seven years, this annual camp has provided close to 250 youth (ages 15-19) the opportunity to learn to deal with conflict in their communities, learn about Fair Trade, and imagine a world without poverty. Through the support of Small Change Fund donors, more youth have experienced the camp.
This is an important experience for youth from demographics not traditionally serviced through other youth opportunities. We find our participants through community-based organizations, multi-cultural associations, and other public-service groups in areas where there are more challenges, both economically and culturally.
